According to Symantec’s Security Response blog, approximately 140,000 Macs are still infected with the Flashback Trojan. While Symantec noted that their sinkhole statistics indicated a significant decline in infections over the past week or so, they expected that the decline would have been greater by this point.
Additionally, Symantec reports that the Java security vulnerability that was initially exploited to distribute the Flashback trojan is also now being used to distribute the OSX.Sabpab trojan, which can open a back-door on a compromised computer.
If you’ve fallen victim to the Flashback Trojan, Symantec is offering a free Flashback removal tool.
